Welcome

The Tamar Lake Concept – Enabling an economic transformation of the Tamar Valley

The installation of a barrage in the Tamar forms a long freshwater lake that not only solves the silt accumulation problem in the upper reaches of the Tamar and provides a solution to the Sea Level rise threat that would otherwise flood the low lying areas of Launceston, but also stimulates an economic boom in Gross State Product and jobs in the agriculture and tourism sectors of the economy.

Our Mission: To demonstrate to all levels of government and the community the viability of the Tamar Lake concept.

Established in 2010 as a not-for-profit Incorporated Association, Tamar Lake Inc has privately funded the investigation of the technical, environmental, economic and funding feasibility of the Tamar Lake Concept.
