For the last 4 years Tamar Lake Inc has had a mission to demonstrate to all levels of government and the community the viability of the Tamar Lake concept.berryjam.ruЗаборы

The primary vision that has driven this mission, I think for all of us, is to see a clean, green silt free Tamar.

We have been saying for some time that with the formation of Tamar Lake, it should be as clean and clear as the water coming down the North and South Esk rivers.

The following photos, taken in 2003 shortly after the Trevallyn Dam was emptied down the Gorge for maintenance purposes, show the Home Point and Gorge sections of the river with clear, blue freshwater temporarily displacing the usual muddy tidal waters. In theory, this is what the Tamar Lake should look like 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.

Thanks to Geoff Smedley and Jim Collier for these photos. They have not been retouched!

Siltation History of the Tamar – 200 years of mud and misunderstanding

For those interested in the history of siltation in the Tamar, Professor Jenny Davis and Ian Kidd have compiled a very accurate and detailed article, and had it published in the March issue of Tasmania – 40 degrees South.

With their approval, we have included the article on our website and may be downloaded at www.tamarlake.com.au/project/siltation-history.

Government Legislative planning

The federal Major Project Approval Agency (MPAA) and the Office of the Coordinator General (OCG) have completed the project plan and costing for both the State and Federal legislative approvals process.

The estimate of government fees for the 3 year project is between $250K and $500K depending on how much of our environmental impact studies are accepted. I now have a large Gantt chart for my wall to plot the progress of the project when started.

Infrastructure Tasmania (ITas)

Infrastructure Tasmania has been formed as a new independent entity under the Dept of State Growth, tasked with the responsibility of identifying, planning and delivery of the state infrastructure projects.

The CEO, to commence next month, is Allan Garcia, ex Local Government Association.

Infrastructure Minister Hidding has requested that the Tamar Lake project be given priority by ITas, and that we get together with the CEO and staff for an all day briefing session as soon as possible.

ITas will be a channel to Infrastructure Australia if federal government funding is required.

3D modelling and Tamar Lake scenarios

The construction of the 3D mathematical model of the Tamar is reaching fruition.

When the model is completed we will be applying the model to determine the following:

These results are expected late June.
